About

Ethereal harmonies and nostalgic melodies weave together to tell honest stories that capture the everyday moments that so often pass us by. The Magnolia Janes have a way of sorting through life’s highs and lows, painting lush, emotional soundscapes that guide listeners to look for the beauty within.

Made up of friends and songwriters Sarah Bonsignore and Ashley Riley, the duo first met at a sync songwriting retreat in the Pocono Mountains. Both acclaimed solo artists who have had success writing music for film & TV, they bonded over their love of vintage clothes, cheap wine, and so many laughs. They performed together, backing each other up on stages in California, Nashville, and New York before officially deciding to form their band.

Sarah’s South African music heritage, classical piano and opera training fuses seamlessly with Ashley’s Americana, rock and folk influences, allowing them to create songs that are completely their own; a unique blend of Chopin and Sheryl Crow, incorporating lush string arrangements with acoustic folk guitar, and vibey experimental synth sounds with classic rock.

Sarah has conducted and performed as both a piano and vocal soloist at Carnegie Hall, and another highlight was performing for Nelson Mandela in her hometown of Durban, South Africa. Sarah's  music has been heard in daytime dramas and TV shows like the Netflix phenomenon “Love is Blind”. She also sang background vocals on Pete Seeger's album “Seeds: The Songs of Pete Seeger, Vol. 3”

Ashley has been a staple in the music scene of her hometown Decatur, IL. She has toured regionally and opened for beloved artists like Kim Richey, Ellis Paul, Robbie Fulks and Jill Andrews. She's been on festival bills with folks like Nikki Lane, Good Morning Bedlam, Aaron Lee Tasjen, Beth Bombara and more. New Noise Magazine called her “one of the best obscure female artists I've heard in, well, ever,” Her songs can be heard in Starbucks in-store radio and have been featured on MTV's Teen Mom and Are You the One.

The Magnolia Janes bring their unique styles and strengths into their newest project and are charming audiences with songs full of hope and harmony. They believe that music and art, now more than ever before, offers us a way to connect and feel less alone and have never been more excited to share their art with the world.
